Jubilemus, exsultemus...

the bishops of the SSPX, long thought excommunicated by many, were at last declared by Rome to be free of this excommunication, in a document signed on my feastday, no less! :) Te Deum Laudamus!

Decree of the Congregation for Bishops

CONGREGATIO PRO EPISCOPIS

By way of a letter of December 15, 2008 addressed to His Eminence Cardinal Dario Castrillón Hoyos, President of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, Mons. Bernard Fellay, also in the name of the other three Bishops consecrated on June 30, 1988, requested anew the removal of the latae sententiae excommunication formally declared with the Decree of the Prefect of this Congregation on July 1, 1988. In the aforementioned letter, Mons. Fellay affirms, among other things: "We are always firmly determined in our will to remain Catholic and to place all our efforts at the service of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, which is the Roman Catholic Church. We accept its teachings with filial disposition. We believe firmly in the Primacy of Peter and in its prerogatives, and for this the current situation makes us suffer so much."

His Holiness Benedict XVI - paternally sensitive to the spiritual unease manifested by the interested party due to the sanction of excommunication and trusting in the effort expressed by them in the aforementioned letter of not sparing any effort to deepen the necessary discussions with the Authority of the Holy See in the still open matters, so as to achieve shortly a full and satisfactory solution of the problem posed in the origin - decided to reconsider the canonical situation of Bishops Bernard Fellay, Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, Richard Williamson, and Alfonso de Galarreta, arisen with their episcopal consecration.

With this act, it is desired to consolidate the reciprocal relations of confidence and to intensify and grant stability to the relationship of the Fraternity of Saint Pius X with this Apostolic See. This gift of peace, at the end of the Christmas celebrations, is also intended to be a sign to promote unity in the charity of the universal Church and to try to vanquish the scandal of division.

It is hoped that this step be followed by the prompt accomplishment of full communion with the Church of the entire Fraternity of Saint Pius X, thus testifying true fidelity and true recognition of the Magisterium and of the authority of the Pope with the proof of visible unity.

Based on the faculties expressly granted to me by the Holy Father Benedict XVI, in virtue of the present Decree, I remit from Bishops Bernard Fellay, Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, Richard Williamson, and Alfonso de Galarreta the censure of latae sententiae excommunication declared by this Congregation on July 1, 1988, while I declare deprived of any juridical effect, from the present date, the Decree emanated at that time.

Rome, from the Congregation for Bishops, January 21, 2009.

Card. Giovanni Battista Re
Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops

Thank you for your post ! we need prayers for our Bishops !! That they stay strong, not afraid to learn the truth, not afraid to speak the truth. Christ's sheep are being led to the slaughter-- without the truth our enemies win.
Most every success throughout these seven thousand years over God's people can be traced to lies of the enemy-- foolishly believed by the innocent ! Let's pray for these Bishops ! Thanks.

Such are the facts! Although the latest news are worrying me! How could the Pope make Bishop Williamson's retraction of his statements a condition of his re-incommunication? It's ridiculous... as if the Holocaust were a dogma!

Debating the Holocaust: A New Look At Both Sides by Thomas Dalton, PhD

Publisher's Note: This is a non-Revisionist title for Theses & Dissertations Press. It will be the first book on the Holocaust, in publishing history, that will not take a Traditionalist or a Revisionist point of view. When you purchase this book, one-third of the proceeds will go to Germar Rudolf and his family.

Founded in 2000 the publishing company Theses & Dissertations Press is at the center of a worldwide network of scholars and activists who are working -- often at great personal sacrifice -- to separate historical fact from propaganda fiction. The founder of Theses & Dissertations Press is Germar Rudolf. Who is currently serving prison time for his published works and will be released on July 4, 2009.

As the new director of Germar Rudolf's American publishing division, I wish to express my outrage that the Holocaust, unlike any other historical event, is not subject to critical revisionist investigation. Furthermore I deplore the fact that many so-called democratic states have laws that criminalize public doubting of the Holocaust. It is my position that the veracity of Holocaust assertions should be determined in the marketplace of scholarly discourse and not in our legislatures bodies and courthouses.

Peace.

IF the Pope demands that, THEN

a) Benedict XVI is trying to appease the Jews

b) he is trying to appease European legislation

The Pope can make a test of Williamson's obedience a condition for full reconciliation, and it should be noted that the lifting of the excommunications is merely a step towards reconciliation and repairing the schism (yes, the dreaded 'S' word). It is heartening to see that Fellay is willing now to tell Williamson to shut up. Something Fellay should have done a long time ago.

If the Bishops are fully reconciled and given dioceses, I hope to God Williamson stays a long way away from mine. I do not want to be excommunicated for having watched The Sound of Music.

I hope Bishop Williamson is given my diocese, if/when the four bishops do receive jurisdiction over dioceses! That would be awesome!

And they were not in schism. That implies that they denied the Primacy of the Pope, and they never did.

No, I could use him next door in the Diocese of Worcester. The College of the Holy Cross hosted an event with Planned Parenthood last year, and despite Bishop McManus' threat, their designation as Catholic was not removed (of course, we ALSO need him in my home Diocese of Springfield... maybe Catholics should permit cloning in just this one case!)

Williamson is an English man and so the church across the pond, over here, needs him!

Agnes Regina said...

I'll fight you for him...

I read in the newspaper that he is back in London now ...

Agnes Regina said...

Yes, he is back in London. And of course all his enemies are livid... So long as the 'extradition' threat doesn't come through, he's fine.

Thank the good God he's out of Argentina !! No sooner did his plane land, that the Argentine government admitted the wide spread drought and coming food shortages ! the Bishop warned us many times. These shortages are coming to a neighborhood near you . He also warned us these thieves ( same ones he's battling on the world arena ) will rape and ruin the financial systems ! gee-- wonder what's happening now ? Only because of his lifelong search for the truth , does God grant him the wisdom to see and the courage to speak! Our Lord warned us " Weep not for me ( knowing full well these thugs would murder him ) but weep for your children ( they have no one to tell them the truth ! )". That's why He said-- the truth shall make you free( the corollary is-- lies will enslave us )

His Excellency is a wise man, although he does tend to make us all nervous sometimes (haha)... Oh, God help my dear country, Argentina! How could they be so utterly stupid?
