Guess Who?

I really just want a new profile picture, but since it's here I challenge everyone (not Ines) to guess who this is and why I picked her. And for bonus points, to connect her to the boy scouts through a rather short chain of associations.

My heart sinks, but I cannot complain since I have just switched photos.

Were there more of a resemblance, I would have guessed Saint Margaret Clitherow.

It's that one lady that one artist painted....you know.....her.

Yep, that's right. I now have a different and better picture of her.

Actually, it looks just as blurry now. Oh well. Margaret Clitherow is a contemporary more or less, but nope.

Margaret is right, Clitherow isn't...

Nice picture, Crusader!

Margaret and french...¿sure is circa XVI century? ¿Maybe Scottish?

Lucia Rosa said...

Did I say French? Well, she's wearing a French hood, but no... Crusader88 was right about the country of origin, too.

No you didn't. But been related with your steel lily, I suppose she was french. So english. ¿Or british? One more thing. Is margaret, isn't she? Or Mary?

Agnes Regina said...

Yes, she is Margaret. But which?...

¿Gautier? ¿Gutier-rez?

Besides, you didn't answer the year, my dear. Nor the century, eventually.

Early 1500's, England... what else do you need? You'll never get it.

I never tried. I'm just bothering.

Give up?
Margaret Roper, nee More. St. Thomas More's eldest daughter, Classics student and translator of Erasmus.
Whose biography was writen by Ernest Edwin Reynolds, very influential in the early days of the scout movement and first editor of their magazine.
